HAIR STYLES
Choosing a hairstyle depends on various factors. An important factor
is the shape of your face. Your life style is also a major element.
If you wash, condition and style your hair every morning, a short
cut may be best for you. If you have plenty of time for hair care
you may prefer to wear your hair long. The distribution, quantity
and texture of your hair, the curliness or straightness and your
height are the other important factors for choosing a hair style.
And, as far as beauty is concerned, hair care is most important for
a man. A man's personality is judged not only by the way he carries
himself but also by the hairstyles he sports. The hair-styles of
Bollywood and Hollywood heroes are in demand at hair saloons. Even
though hairstyles have constantly changed, Bollywood celebrities
such as Abhishekh Bachchan, Amir Khan, Saif Ali Khan etc have
greatly influenced Indian men to think differently.
If you wish to change your hairstyle, visit a good and experienced
hairstylist who would give you a trendy haircut. And when going
about with the styling of hair, you have to consider the most
important factor is, the shape or structure of the face.
Men, like women, can have the following face shapes.
Different hairstyles to suit the shape of your face
Round face
A round face will look best with hairstyles that add angles and
helps conceal broad, round cheeks. For persons who have short hair,
it is better to have a cut with most of the hair on top and less on
sides. For long hair, an hairstyle with curls or waves surrounding
the face will be better.
Square face
A square jaw and brow are best softened by a curly or wavy hair
style that rounds off the angles of your face. Curls or waves worn
forward on the outer edges of your face from your forehead will be
more suited for a square face.
An oval face
An oval face can be enhanced by a variety of simple hairstyles. Your
hairstyle will be most pleasing, if you wear it straight or slightly
wavy. Short or long styles will look best when brushed or held back
from your face.
Triangular face
The best hairstyle for this shape face are those worn away from your
face at your forehead and temples and softly waved or curled around
the jaws or those worn full at your temples, with straight or waved
bangs across the width of your forehead.
All the hair you’ll ever have on your head is determined at birth.
That’s because hair grows from a root in your scalp and the number
of roots cannot be changed. Each hair grows from the root to a
certain length depending on your unique genetic makeup, then slows
down, then stops naturally. At some point, it’ll die and be shed.
You lose about 100 hairs every day from this life cycle. The lost
hair will be replaced by a new-growth shaft.
You can help make your hair grow longer by taking good care of each
shaft: gentle brushing, using a mild shampoos, giving your self
gentle scalp massages regularly, and limiting coloring and perms.
You can increase the volume of individual hairs, and thus make your
hair appear more full, with protein shampoos and conditioners that
coat each shaft.
Your hair is mostly made of water. To be shiny and supple, your hair
needs to be adequately hydrated. You lose water from the sun, too
much processing, and blow-drying. Oil from your scalp coats each
shaft and acts as a barrier against evaporation.
Your hair also needs proper blood circulation to remain strong,
which can be increased
with brushing and scalp massage.
If you wear your hair pulled back in a French Twist or ponytail,
give your hair a break once in awhile by letting it hang freely.
Those styles put a lot of pressure on the hair, especially at the
front hairline. Also, don’t use any uncoated elastic bands in your
hair! Elastic grabs at the shaft and will break it.
All shampoos fall into one of two
categories:
1. cleansers (Prell, Herbal Essence, Breck) that need a follow-up
conditioner
2. combo of cleanser and conditioner that don’t clean as well as a
straight cleanser and don’t
condition as well as a conditioner but will do a good job of both
tasks. Most shampoos are in
this category but differ as to which kind of conditioning ingredient
they contain.
All conditioners (whether as a separate product or combined in a
shampoo) accumulate on the shaft and can’t be removed by using the
same product all the time. It’s good to use a simple cleansing
shampoo after every two or three uses of a conditioner or a
conditioning shampoo.
Other special shampoos types:
1. Dry shampoos: powders brushed onto hair and are then brushed out.
They don’t really clean,
but it’s a good stopgap if you can’t shampoo.
2. Baby shampoos: these are meant for babies, who have fine hair and
not much of it. It’s not
strong enough for an adult, even if you use it everyday.
3. Shampoos for color-treated hair: these need to be rich in
moisturizers and protein to return
water to the shaft. They should be low in alkalinity, and should not
have sulphated castor oils
that will strip color.
4. Shampoos for processed hair: these need to be rich in
moisturizers and protein to return
water to the shaft. They should be low in alkalinity.
5. Daily use shampoos: these are very gentle and have low amounts of
cleansers and usually
contain conditioners. They’re not strong enough to remove the normal
buildup of styling
products.
