SKIN CARE INDUSTRY
The market is
largely untapped and so it is not even near attaining maturity
status. We do not even reach the rural market, which is a very big
market in itself. Very few players have been able to penetrate this
market. The urban market itself is largely unexploited. We consume
less than most Asian countries. So there is definitely huge
potential out there. There is no question of maturity, but the
growth prospects might be different for these two segments.
In India,
skin-care is still at a nascent stage. So this is the actual growth
area. Colour cosmetics penetration is definitely lower than the
penetration prospects for the skin-care segment. In three-five
years, skin care will be a very big market and much bigger than the
colour cosmetics market. Skin-care would be Rs 500-600 crore in the
premium segment alone in five-six years and we hope our colour
cosmetics and skin-care would be about Rs 300 crore. |
