What is Ayurveda?
A system of
self-care that originated in India more than 5000 years ago,
Ayurveda is becoming very popular all over the world, with hundreds
of healers incorporating it into their practices and thousands
of
people using its well-tried principles and therapies to improve
their well-being.
Basic Elements of Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the
most ancient and traditional science. The basic principles of
Ayurveda deal with the natural way of living a healthy life. People
are understanding how difficult is to survive in today's world
without any disease. In that case Ayurveda teaches the perfect way
of leading a healthy life. The knowledge of ayurveda is divided into
eight parts. Hence it is also known as Ashtanga Ayurveda.
Principles
For the Ayurvedic
practitioner, it is necessary to understand the nature of the
patient, the nature of the disease, and the nature of the remedy.
Only then will a physician be able to provide the greatest
care. The
qualities of Nature are said to be either heavy or light, cold or
hot, stable or mobile, sharp or dull, moist or dry, subtle or gross,
dense or flowing, soft or hard, smooth or rough and cloudy or clear.
Ayurveda for Wellness through
Balance
Ayurveda literally
translates to "the science of life". In ayurveda, health is defined
as an active state of wellness--a state in which you truly live, not

the
ancient texts of ayurveda, extends beyond the physical body to the
mind, heart, senses and spirit. In this "zone," you experience
physical vitality, mental alertness, emotional bliss, sensual
Ayurvedic Tips for Summer Skin Care
According to
ayurveda, every individual is a unique combination of the three
doshas or psycho-physiological principles Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Vata is mainly air and space, Pitta fire and water and Kapha water
and earth. These doshas also govern the seasons of the year, with
Pitta, the fire element, ruling the hot summer months. During the
summer, even if you do not have a lot of Pitta in
your make-up, you
may find that you need to take steps to placate Pitta to stay
healthy and balanced. This goes not only for your overall health but
skin and hair health as well.
